The Real Dance (2021 - present)

Tickets here!

Join us for the long-awaited premiere of Season 2 of The Real Dance, Chicago's DIY reality TV dance film series, featuring three brand new episodes exploring the work of dance and movement artists Alison Kopit, Lichen Bouboushian, and Tuli + Tithi Bera.

From audio description time travel to sibling dynamics to looking for love in a broken world, these three short films reveal the unexpected high stakes hiding in plain sight amidst what we call "dance."

The Season 2 premiere episodes will be followed by a re-screening of Season 1 (2021-22), featuring Christina Chammas, Jenn Freeman | Po'Chop, Irene Hsiao, Dorian Vanunu, and co-directors Grace and Nora themselves. Lead cinematography for both seasons is by Bea Cabrera, Sydney Sullivan, and Spence Warren, with Sydney Sullivan on lead editing support.

Started in 2021 initially via a commission from the Pivot Arts Festival, The Real Dance is a short film series that approaches contemporary dancemaking through a low-stakes, high-investment aesthetic & entertainment lens, focusing on the daily lives, dramas, and backstories of people who make dance.
